HOW MUCH CAN A LARGE SKIP HOLD?
Our large skips range in length from 10 to 16 yards. Here’s what they can hold:
10 YARD SKIP
This is the largest skip we offer that’s suitable for bulky waste such as soil, bricks and hardcore. If you have lots of this to get rid of, a 10 yard skip is the perfect solution. It’s two yards longer than a classic builder’s skip, and is also suitable for lighter waste – it’s big enough to accommodate 100 full bin bags.
12 YARD SKIP
Due to its larger size, a 12 yard skip can only be filled with lighter waste to avoid overloading our lorries. It can accept in the region of 120 full bin bags of waste.
16 YARD SKIP
The 16 yard skip is the largest skip we offer. This behemoth is again only suitable for lighter waste due to its vast size, but it can house up to 160 bin bags full. This makes it ideal for full-scale commercial projects like shop refits (or large house clearances).
WHAT CAN LARGE SKIPS BE USED FOR?
Our large skips have a wide range of potential uses in both residential and commercial settings. Though they’re too large for many people to keep on their driveways or on the road outside a property, if you have the room, they’re ideal for the likes of full house refurbishments, remodelling projects and house clearances.
10, 12 and 16 yard skips are popular with our commercial clients too, who use them for projects like shop refits, building refurbishments and more.
To avoid overloading our lorries and to keep everyone safe, our 12 and 16 yard skips cannot be used for transporting weighty materials like hardcore, bricks and soil.
There are a number of prohibited items that can’t be stored in any of our skips. These include:
- Hazardous or chemical waste
- Plasterboard
- Tyres
- Electrical equipment
- Fridges and freezers
- Fluorescent tubes
- Gas cylinders
- Confidential paper waste
- Car batteries
